To commemorate the twin occasions of National Unity Day & Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week (31st October, to November 06, 2022), Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the following multiple activities were organized at the Dept. cum Centre for Women’s Studies & Development today. In the beginning, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Chander (Officiating Chairperson) gave a brief glance of the mammoth contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the political integration/unification of the country. The significance of the day, i.e., National Unity, celebrated in India since the year 2014 on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, was spelled out to the participants, ranging from Office Staff, research scholars, students of various MA/Diploma courses running in the department.

The Integrity pledge for citizens with the theme, “Corruption free India for a Developed Nation”, was administered to more than 60 participants of both the events at 11:00 a.m. Thereafter, a Digital Exhibition on “Sardar Patel-The Architect of Unification” was displayed to the students from 11:15 a.m. onwards comprising of 40 slides, encapsulating brief biography of Sardar Patel, his struggle for nation’s freedom movement, association with other builders of the modern India, role in the integration/reorganization of the states- Deccan, Junagadh, Hyderabad, etc. The digital displayed captured the monumental contribution of Sardar Patel and his main ideas for the society, at large. The digital display was followed by a healthy discussion on Sardar Patel’s contribution to nation building, especially in the rural hinterland, from a gender lens. His major ideas were disseminated and discussed with the gathered audience. The programme concluded with proposing a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Dipti Salhuria, Guest Faculty, to all the organizers/participants, who made the multiple events a success.
